WHAT IS OSTEOARTHRITIS ?
Osteoarthritis, in India commonly known as “Sandhi vaat”, it is a condition in which the natural cushioning (Called Gaadi) in between two bones where a joint is formed. This cushion is called Cartilage. This cushion or Cartilage when damaged or wears off, the bones of the joints rub against each other and cause severe pain in the joint on movements of the joint. This results in swelling of the joint, stiffness, limited movements of the joint and sometimes, the formation of particles of the bone deposited around the joint bones which is called spur or osteophytes which further causes pain during the joint movements.
The most common types of arthritis are :
The cartilage between the two long bones of leg and thigh gets worn out

Arthritis due to Injury / Trauma :
Thinning of cartilage between thigh bone and Shin bone happens due to injury / trauma to the knee due to any reason. when both bones get rubbed on movements, tit causes pain, stiffness, and limitation of movements of the knee joint. The process of knee joint arthritis pain may take a long time to start after the injury / trauma to the joint.
This is also called as Autoimmune disease. When you have a weak immune system in yur body, and any infection due to an injury or any other reason, your weak immune system triggers infection in your joints which will result in inflammation and swelling of the synovial membrane which will also damage the cartilage between the two long bones resulting in pain and swelling of your joint and limitation of joint movements.
